The R.I.C.E. Cantonese Children’s Lunar New Year Fair took place on January 18, 2025, and I had the joy of hosting this wonderful event. I’m so excited to share that it was a huge success!
With 12 creative booths run by 14 incredible young entrepreneurs, ages 7–14, and over 300 attendees, the day was filled with laughter and joy. Watching these kids confidently run their booths and use Cantonese to connect with others truly made every moment of preparation worthwhile. It was a beautiful reminder of how powerful and fun learning through real-life experiences can be.
Together, we also made an impact beyond the fair, with donations going to our local food bank and library.
I’m already working to incorporate all the practical vocabulary and phrases we used and learned during the fair into the R.I.C.E. learning plan. My hope is that these real-world applications will help your child feel even more confident using Cantonese in their daily lives. Thank you for your support and for being part of this journey!
